A sunrise elopement with their two best friends, a thermos of coffee and a cold hike up to the lake.

We met in the dark at the trailhead with headlamps and a thermos of coffee. Ava and Jonah had written their vows on the back of a trail map.

There was still ice at the edge of the water. The sun came over the ridge right on time and lit up the peaks one by one.

After the ceremony we walked down slowly, stopping wherever the light looked good, and finished with pancakes in town.
