Seven ways to make your color last longer
· 1 min read
Fresh color looks its best for the first few weeks. With a little care at home, you can stretch that a lot further.
Wait before the first wash
Give your hair 48 hours before you shampoo. The color needs a little time to settle.
Turn the water down
Hot water opens the hair and lets color slip out. Lukewarm is kinder, and a cool rinse at the end adds shine.
Use a color safe shampoo
Look for one made for colored hair, without harsh sulfates. Wash two or three times a week, not every day.
Go easy on the heat
- Use a heat protector every time.
- Keep straighteners below 180 C (356 F).
- Let your hair air dry when you can.
Cover up in the sun and the pool
Sun fades color and chlorine can turn blondes brassy. A hat and a quick rinse before you swim both help.
Book a gloss between visits
A gloss takes 45 minutes and brings back tone and shine halfway between color appointments.
Ask your stylist which products they use on your hair. Then use the same at home.
Ready when you are.
Pick a time that suits you online. It takes about a minute.
