Running a company
The two hour rule for meetings
· 1 min read · by Maya Ortiz
At Fieldnote, nobody spends more than two hours a week in meetings. It sounds strict. In practice it feels like getting your week back.
How it works
- Every meeting needs a written question in the invite.
- If the question can be answered in writing, it is.
- Thursday afternoon is for the meetings that are left.
What we do instead
Long, clear messages. A weekly note from each person about what they shipped and what is stuck. It takes ten minutes to write and saves hours of status calls.
