Tap to see the real thing

Overview

Most habit apps fail at the moment that matters: the second you have to open the app, find the habit and press a button. Habit Nova moves that moment into the real world. A physical NFC tag on the water bottle, the gym bag or the desk logs the habit with one tap, and everything else in the app is built to keep that loop fast.

The challenge

“Make logging nearly effortless without turning the app into a toy. It had to work on a cold-started Android phone, offline, inside a gym with bad signal, and still be deep enough for people who want routines, analytics and coaching.”

What I built

  1. 01

Built the tap flow first: a tag opens the right habit or widget even when the app was not running, and taps made offline are saved and synced later.

  2. 02

Designed 21 built-in widgets (water, timers, workouts, meditation, reading, medication and more) that log habits on their own, so the app does the bookkeeping.

  3. 03

Added an AI coach and an "Architect" that turn a goal into real habits, routines and widget pairings the user can accept with one tap.

  4. 04

Shipped native Android home-screen widgets, live notifications and quick settings tiles, plus an organizations plan for gyms, schools and workplaces with kiosk check-in.
