Overview
Powder-coating shops run on boxes of powder that are hard to count and easy to run out of mid-job. Powder Inventory replaces the clipboard with a phone camera: scan the label, and the powder, lot and weight are filled in for you.
The challenge
“Shop-floor software has to be faster than a pen. It also had to keep every company's data strictly separate, since many shops share one app.”
What I built
- 01
Label scanning uses vision AI to read manufacturer labels and match them to existing powders, with a review step before anything is saved.
- 02
Stock is tracked by the pound across boxes and lots, with usage logging, job records, expiring-powder lists and low-stock alerts.
- 03
Every company is its own organization, isolated by Postgres row-level security, with admin-issued join codes for new staff.
- 04
A "shop floor" design (safety orange on warm stone) built for gloves and glare, shipped to iOS and Android with Capacitor.
