Module 8 · Sign in and payments (optional)

Stripe: take payments

Build in test mode, start with a Payment Link if you can, add Checkout with a webhook if you need it.

8 min

Stripe takes the money and sends receipts. You pay a fee per sale and nothing else. Everything in this lesson happens in test mode first. Test mode uses fake cards and fake money, so you can break things freely.

The simplest case: a Payment Link. Open Payment Links (search for it at the top if you do not see it) and click New. Pick your product, choose where to send people after paying, and click Create link. You get a URL like https://buy.stripe.com/.... Ask Claude to put it on a button. That is a working shop with no backend at all.
